Why we shoot Culebra.
A horseshoe of turquoise so saturated it doesn't look real, framed by green hills and white sand that squeaks underfoot. Flamenco Beach ranks among the best beaches on Earth year after year — and it's a 45-minute ferry from the main island. We shoot here constantly, and it never stops earning it.
- 01 Flamenco's water does something no other Puerto Rico beach does: it grades from glass-clear to mint to deep turquoise inside a single frame. No filter has ever needed to touch it.
- 02 The graffiti tanks at the west end of Flamenco — rusted, painted, absurd, iconic. Two minutes' walk from postcard-perfect sand to the most editorial backdrop on the island.
- 03 Beyond Flamenco there's Zoní, Tamarindo, and the boat hop to Culebrita — beaches with almost nobody on them. If Vieques is slow, Culebra is still.
Best time
Mid-morning for Flamenco turquoise; golden hour on the west side
Mid-morning (9:00–11:00am) is when Flamenco's turquoise turns all the way on — the sun needs height to light the sandbanks. For portraits with softer light, the west-facing stretches at golden hour. We plan around your ferry or flight times.
Logistics & permits
Public beaches, no permit; ferry from Ceiba or 30-min island hop
Ferry from Ceiba (about 45 min, a few dollars each way — book ahead on weekends) or a 30-minute island-hopper from San Juan or Ceiba. Day-trip is very doable; overnight gets you the empty-beach morning. On island, golf carts and taxis cover everything. Travel fee $250 applied to cover our logistics.

What to wear
Whites, soft blues, and aqua tones mirror the water beautifully — this is the beach the blue-floral dress was made for. Light fabrics, barefoot from minute one. Bring a change; you will end up in the water.
